Stewardship...
"
The active appreciation of God’s Love"
Mission Statement:
Holy Trinity Catholic Newman Center (HTCNC) is the Church that serves the college campuses in Northern Arizona. HTCNC enhances the Flagstaff academic community by providing faith-based programs, activities and resources that serve the sacramental and spiritual needs of its members. HTCNC inspires, assists, and encourages individuals to become faith-sharing local, national and global leaders of tomorrow. |
Hospitality
“When I was a stranger, you welcomed me.” (Mt. 25:35). Holy Trinity Catholic Newman Center welcomes everyone. It is in the faces of others that we see Christ’s face. When anyone is at the Newman Center they are encouraged to welcome others who are both new and frequent visitors. Stewardship involves the act of being hospitable. Hospitality leads to a sense of belonging. Feeling welcomed and welcoming others are gifts from God that can be easily shared. You are invited to be part of Holy Trinity Catholic Newman Center. Join us and be part of our Catholic Community.
Prayer
Holy Trinity Catholic Newman Center feeds souls through prayer. “Prayer is as necessary to our souls as food is to our bodies.” (Characteristics of a Christian Steward). Prayer helps to enrich a personal relationship with Father, Son and Holy Spirit. During mass at the Newman Center the community gathers together to worship and praise God. In one of the prefaces of the Eucharistic prayers it says, “Lord, our desire to thank you is itself your gift.” The Third Eucharistic Prayer states, “All life, all holiness comes from you through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, by the working of the Holy Spirit… And so, Father, we bring you these gifts. We ask you to make them holy by the power of your Spirit, that they may become the body and blood of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, at whose command we celebrate this Eucharist.” In prayer, we ask God to help us understand and perpetuate our time talents and treasure. It is in living a life of stewardship that we are given God’s gifts and responses.
Formation
A steward grows in the life of prayer, God reveals Himself more intimately in this personal relationship. A steward realizes that gifts received from God are to be shared throughout the community. As a humble servant a steward recognizes that all gifts originate from God. Sharing with others, with a loving heart and in a graceful, generous and grateful manner is the core of a steward’s personal response to God’s love of each of us. The formation of an environment of stewardship is also the core of the Newman Center’s campus community. The formation process involves education of the mind and conversion of the heart. Formation into stewardship is a conversion process that leads an individual from selfishness to selflessness.
Service
Holy Trinity Catholic Newman Center ministers to varied needs of its members as well as the needs of the wider community and Church. The Newman Center is family oriented. Like a family it serves those in need, in pain, in doubt or transition. The Newman Center also celebrates God’s gifts and gives thanks for its people. “God so constructed the body, that there may be no dissension in the body, but that all the members may be concerned for one another. If one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members share its joy.” (1 Cor. 12: 24b, 25-26) The Newman Center is a service community it seeks to serve and to be served—to give and to receive.
